Overview
AK Resourcing are currently seeking a Lead Structural Engineer for our client in one of Ontario’s prettiest towns. The Lead Structural Engineer performs structural assessments of mine and plant infrastructure, evaluates and designs modifications to existing facilities to incorporate process upgrades, and prepares designs for fabrication of various structural components.
This is an on-site position and requires the candidate to live in the Southwestern Ontario area.
Essential Job Functions: Include but are not limited to the following:
Perform the necessary calculations and designs for various structures within the mine.
Evaluate existing structures to determine essential modifications
Perform assessments of surface and underground infrastructure
Create civil/structural designs in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Cost control, schedule preparation, preparation of tender documents, bid analysis, oversight of commissioning.
Oversee work performed by consultants and contractors to ensure they are performing their duties as required.
Prepare and complete risk assessments and management of change functions as required to ensure projects are designed and constructed to comply with pertinent mining regulations and company standards.
Lead civil/structural and/or mechanical infrastructure improvement projects from concept to implementation.
Act as subject matter expert in adherence to site engineering standards and industry best practices.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering required. Master’s degree in related field is a plus.
Eng designation is required.
10 years of engineering experience required. Experience in the underground mining industry is preferred.
Soft rock mining experience preferred
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Suite, SolidWorks.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
